A key North Yorkshire bridge has reopened after ten months – and a nearby hotel has announced a special offer to celebrate.
Aldwark Toll Bridge closed last April for repairs. The bridge crosses the River Ure and connects Little Ouseburn with Aldwark. It is one of the UK’s only privately-owned toll bridges.

Myself and my party had an excellent time at Aldwark Manor over the weekend.
I was celebrating my 70th Birthday and I had invited 35 family and close friends to help me celebrate.
From arriving on Friday afternoon to leaving on Sunday morning I could not fault one thing.
Professional, friendly and very helpful reception, restaurant and bar staff.
We had a lovely meal in the restaurant on Friday – top class food and service.
My actual Birthday lunch was professionally served and everyone enjoyed all three courses.
I would like to especially thank Kim Richardson who from the very start of planning my party, helped, advised, supported and went out of her way to ensure I had everything I needed to make my birthday party perfect. She is a lovely, professional lady a real asset to Aldwark Manor.
I am sure we will be back to visit your beautiful hotel again in the near future.
On behalf of all the ladies from Meltham Golf Club who attended the Sunday Driver Golf Break at Aldwark Manor, I would like to send a heartfelt thank you for a wonderful trip. The hotel was beautifully appointed and the bedrooms were very comfortable. The food was thoughtfully presented and delicious, with the bacon sandwiches on arrival the best we’ve ever had on a similar golf break, as was the fabulous breakfast selection. It was also a good idea to house us in the Barnes Wallis suite for dinner so that we didn’t cause too much noise for other guests!
All the staff were extremely helpful and courteous, especially Sam, who couldn’t have been more charming to us. The weather was perfect and the golf course was in great condition, looking particularly pretty due to the spring colours, and for those who visited, the spa was a real highlight. Many of the ladies have said they will be returning, and I certainly look forward to another stay.
Now the dust has settled on the weekend I’d like to reach out and thank you for your fantastic hospitality.
The entire weekend went off without a hitch and I’ve had numerous compliments from both the Directors here and our guests about the venue, food and (especially) the staff. Special praise was reserved to the waiting and bar staff, who were a delight and a credit to you and the hotel.
Please can you pass on my (and ours as a company’s) thanks for everyone’s help and support. It was a brilliant weekend; our best yet in terms of feedback. And that wouldn’t have been possible without your efforts.

Unbelievable!! In a seriously fantastic way. We flew over for a wedding and booked here for 2 nights as the hotel looked really nice. And it is! but what you can’t see in pictures you can only appreciate once you stay here. The STAFF are AMAZING. The Hotel outdoes the pictures and you can’t imagine how chilled the atmosphere is.
We have never received service like this anywhere (and we travel a lot) it is like staying with family as the staff are so lovely and attentive, courteous and kind. Kim, Natalia, Jane et all. You are all superstars.
We booked a 2 night stay in one of the signature rooms. The service was excellent, the room had the WOW factor and was spotless. We opted for the meal package and were so impressed with the meal, we ordered chateaubriand the second night, this was equally tasty.
In short we made the right decision to stay at this hotel for our celebration weekend.
Superb room, very comfortable and lovely view over the estate. Stunning Art Deco bar and dining room. Sensational food, evening meal and breakfast. All staff are warm and welcoming.
Special mention for Richard in the restaurant, great advice with the wine list and first class service throughout, plus Joe and Tina at breakfast. Very friendly and attentive. The chef is first rate!
I can not give this hotel enough praise! Beautiful settings, food to die for and the friendliest staff I have ever met! Rooms are out of this world and have the most comfortable beds! I will be visiting again, brilliant from start to finish.
Having spent two weeks leading a residential training course I cannot endorse this venue highly enough. From the initial contact with Kim and Christophe to the assistance of Harry and the flexibility of all the front of house staff this was an outstanding customer experience. The food was exceptional and the personal touch from the catering and beverage team was 5 star.
A true gem of a stately hotel offering the best in relaxation and tranquillity.
We were very fortunate to be able to secure a booking with the Aldwark Manor House Hotel and the Peter Kay weekend experience. The whole weekend event will leave us with many great memories and unique experiences. Of course, the Peter Kay concert was excellent, which included a limo service, VIP access & private box to view the concert and plenty of bubbles on tap to further enhance the whole experience. A special thanks goes to Julie for looking after all of us at the event.
This package also included a wine tasting experience the following day at a local vineyard. We have never taken part in wine tasting before but we have to say, it was both extremely informative, great fun and lots of high-quality wines to sample. Oh! I forgot to mention this package also included excellent food (high tea, supper, evening dinner & breakfast) throughout our stay at Aldwark. All of the food was of excellent quality with great service from all the team at Aldwark.
We would highly recommend to anyone similar events at Aldwark Manor House in the future. You will not be disappointed.

From our first conversation you have been incredibly helpful, genuine and professional! The event was a massive success, but that is largely down to you and your team.
The bar staff, Harry, our evening event’s team, the receptionist’s, honestly everyone has been exceptional, your service has been great!
Please, please, PLEASE pass this note of gratitude along to the whole team that helped make the event a success, we appreciate the countless espressos made, the late nights, the FANTASTIC food and the hard work you’ve all put in.
I am almost certain this will not be the last time our paths cross and I think some of the team will be enjoying a personal stay in the near future.
It was our honour to receive the second place prize in the competition from Aldwark Manor to see Take That & Olly Murs at the First Direct arena in Leeds. The concert was spectacular, the hospitality was superb, and the whole experience was unforgettable. Thank you so much for making it happen and for this incredible experience.
